Editorial policy
Active Music Journal aims to be accurate, fair-minded and clear about the difference between an established detail, an interpretation and an opinion. Our articles are written for general readers and do not claim expertise they do not have.
Accuracy and context
We check names, terms and factual claims before publication and take care not to make a musical custom sound universal when it belongs to a particular setting or tradition. Where a topic has differing accounts or interpretations, we describe that uncertainty plainly rather than smoothing it away.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the publication's readers. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, favourable treatment or a particular conclusion. We distinguish editorial material from any paid or partner material so readers can tell what they are reading.
Corrections
If a reader spots a factual error or a misleading passage, please use the Contact page and identify the article and detail. We review correction requests, amend confirmed errors and make the change clear in the relevant article when appropriate.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid placements and partner contributions are labelled where they appear; they are not presented as independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI tools, and such images are illustrative rather than documentary.
Music grows by being shared
A tune can begin with one player and become something larger through attention, patience and company. We value music-making that leaves room for curiosity as well as sound.
